He is wearing a blue coat with gold buttons and a white chemise and cravat.
She is wearing a blue dress with a high neckline with frilled lace edging and bonnet trimmed with lace and ribbon.
On the reverse of the Bishop miniature, on the outside of the frame, is faintly written in pencil “James Yorke"; on the back of the portrait itself is written “Hathaway”.
On the reverse of his wife's miniature, on the outside of the frame, is written in ink " Honourable Mrs James Yorke, daughter of Bishop Madox"; on the back of the portrait itself, the same as above, with “died 1823 aged 81” added. There is also again the signature “Hathaway”.
