An excellent, highly decorative late Victorian or early Edwardian figural cast iron doorstop (door porter), dating from around 1890–1910.

This charming, substantial piece features a beautifully sculpted frog resting on a riverbank or lily pad base, set against an artistic, fan-shaped background of stylized aquatic bulrushes and reeds.

The reverse side shows a distinctively hollowed-out profile with a coarse, granular sand-cast texture, providing clear proof of its authentic period foundry construction.

The iron has aged magnificently over time, boasting a completely untouched, authentic "as-found" surface patina. It displays deep, rich oxidization tones combined with vibrant hints of green verdigris patination.

This weathered, rustic appearance makes it a standout country house decorative item, equally suited as a practical indoor hearth ornament, a bookend, or a traditional garden accent. A wonderfully tactile piece of authentic British metalware folk art.
