Oak Carving of a Female Goddess

Origin: England   Period: Circa 1900

A very well proportioned and wonderfully expressive wooden sculpture depicting a woman in a resting posture.

This relaxed pose is reminiscent of the classic Greek/Roman statues.

The folds of her tunic and the waves in her hair have been masterfully recreated.

With a natural rich patina, this carving dating from circa 1900, would look lovely as a stand alone piece.
