A Pair Of Italian Mid Century Modern Chiavari Chairs


Origin: Italy   Period: 50's

Originally designed and made in 1807 by the Italian cabinet maker Giuseppe Gaetano Descalzi  'Chiavari' chairs were re-invented by Gio Ponti in the1950's.

This wonderful set of two 'Mid-Century Modern' Campanino Classica chairs were made in the 50's in Chiavari, Italy.

Renowned for their strength and being very lightweight they became, again, very popular and are now very collected. These chairs are black lacquered onto, a, probably, ash wood frame, the hand caned seats are original with only slight wear.

Condition is excellent with only slight wear and a few scuffs.
