Sketch Watercolour Depicting Canonbury Tower Islington London

Origin: England   Period: Late 19th Century

A very interesting monochrome small sketch / watercolour depicting Canonbury Tower Islington London.

The tower and the remains of the manor house are depicted from across a pond or stream in the foreground which doesn't exist anymore.

This sketch shows a very similar perspective of the Benjamin Green version owned by the British Museum (under number 1881,0409.2) and datable before 1800.

We believe this is a study that takes inspiration from the Benjamin Green watercolour although with some differences which demonstrate that it has been painted in a later period (late 19th century).
