A fine quality Irish circular tilt-top breakfast table by Robert Strahan & Co, Dublin, Ireland.
Circa 1820, the magnificent grain of the rosewood with its rich colour and patina makes this a beautiful piece of furniture. The baluster column is wonderfully carved as are the outswept legs and feet. To the underside of the table the original paper trade label for Robert Strahan is still intact. Also, ‘Strahan’ and ‘10143’ is stamped to the column.
The Henry Street, Dublin address dates this table to circa 1815-1820 we believe.
The tilt top mechanism works perfectly and the table is stable and sturdy.

Robert Strahan & Co (Cabinet Maker) was founded in 1776 and went on to make the finest quality furniture for the most important Irish houses and estates of the late 18th and 19th century. There are a couple of small blemishes to the top, but this is to be expected for a table in original condition from the first quarter of the 19th century.
